Theory and Practice

He intuits
the world’s
where and why,
abstracts,
adeptly
like a dancer
along
the shore,
the essence
from its shell;
but, the what
and how
the world’s
wanted
to be seen
eludes his
misperceptions.
People like
to see
the show,
be dazzled
by the practical
magic upon
the stage.
They claim
they truly
want to know,
but prefer
that thought
remain
well hidden.
The way
he arrived,
which trail
and turn
led him here,
does not matter:
his experience
has no
consequence
to the final
accounting
at the door.
He stands
upon the stage,
juggles
three coins
into the air,
then vanishes
before
they sound
upon
a ground.
