An egg yolk’s aesthetics reside
in the mouth; the moment
the membrane keeping it whole
pops, and the gold ooze
coats the tongue’s desire
in a hen’s genetic matter.
Eating is destruction,
ecstatic and savory:
Dionysius, Christ, Osiris –
flesh tattered, tasted, scattered;
renewed within a life,
a constant drive to be
wholly a part of the world
dancing in the golden light.
