as he moves within
each grey room
his past collects
his darker parts
like secret sins
less transgressed
than imagined
he invokes ghosts
friends he dare not see
to haunt his day
like laughter lurks
on the edge of tears
slyly mocking him
on his silent way
like sacrificial children
who slowly crawl
a convoluted maze
he wanders lost
within the seams
of all the words
defining him
