a partial fall

We collapse
into the collapse,
as a grain of sand
balances along a tilt
before falling with the all.
Who are we more
than we would admit?
Our scripture insinuates
its domain into the cracks,
and such whispers
demand recompense.
With a casual disregard,
our bones
rattle and clack
into a clay cup.
Exhaustion hangs behind
to gag us into submission.
