Outside In

Here,  I shift,
uncomfortable in
what clothes
others dress me;
yet, I wear
what’s offered:
oblivious to
alternatives.
Alone, I live
within myself
whistling my song
slightly out of tune.
I chase my shadows,
wisps, which vanish
in the silent air
along these edges.
