immanent arrival

over the horizon’s edge
about to break across
a line neither of us
can see the transition

being so translucent
like  gilt laden halos
of medieval saints
reflected in the still

water of baptismal fonts
that any second of this
moment could turn to unfold
around us like an embrace

of long parted lovers
passing on the street
