somewhere here the key exists
I am not sure to what
so I look in familiar spaces
the people here are not the people
they are supposed to be when here
their faces change as I near
a woman in a window somewhere else
another floor another hall another way
who I think I know but don’t
dangles a key from a chain
I reach for it and she laughs
not this one not here not today
I look into familiar rooms
hints of friends and lovers appear
no one I want or know is there
cloaked in one of many shadows
I cannot find myself in here
but know I am somewhere
